Jose and his Band

Jose and his Band Guateque

5.25pm Guateque – possibly the most brilliant Cuban country music you’ll ever hear.  Guaranteed to get feet dancing and hands clapping.
6.35pm Capoeira – described as a Brazilian martial art or dance, this art form doesn’t really fit in either category. Capoeira is simply poetry in motion.

7.25pm Anna Mudeka - traditional and original modern Zimbabwean music and dance
8.45pm Moleque de Rua – samba as you’ve never heard it before!  Several generations of Sao Paulo street kids make their innovative instruments from recycled material and concoct excitingly original sounds mixing samba and other traditional Brazilian rhythms with rock, funk and hip hop. In their dynamic stage show they not only decry the poverty, corruption and violence rife in Brazil but also exuberantly celebrate the force of their own life-saving culture.

Rueda at the Forum Norwich Uk Sat 18th Oct

Rueda at Carnival de Cuba London

la Rueda at Carnival de Cuba London

Sat 18th at 3pm at the Forum in Norwich there will be a Rueda Demo, Salsa warm ups a bit of Cuban Dancing and Cuban Rumba Demo. It should last about  45mins so come along and see what’s its all about. You have seen it on Strictly Come Dancing. Now see it for real and the way the Cubans do it !!! Why not give it a try as well ??????????   and for information the track they Danced Rueda to on Strictly was from Los Van Van called “Tim pot con Birdland”  and the track was way to fast for the poor guys to keep up with. But guess that’s the typical attitude of the BBC’s totally over produced peek time programs !

Want more in your Cuban Salsa ?

The Orisha’s could be your answer.

Each Orisha has movements and dances that are specific to that Spirit. These movements reflect the force of nature that the Orisha has power over and the use of the tools of their trades. Ogun uses a machete to cut a path Shango moves powerfully and Ochun has a hand movement that reflects her importance status and the flow of the sweet waters. All these movements and more have there place in Cuban Salsa. If you ever start feeling board with Salsa then look towards the Orisha. This assumes that you are already putting in Reggaeton, Rumba ans Son.

9th Oct Salsa Classes Norwich Norfolk

Dance Cuban Classes. I hoped you enjoyed your Bachata taster. I is the quickest way to look good on the dance floor but can take a long while to master. The video is a workshop from the 2008 Afro Cuban weekender Mundesley Norfolk and will give you a few ideas and a insight to whats it all about.

Our aim with the classes at Sutton Staithe is to build your knowlege of dance and understanding of Afo-Cuban Dance beyond what is general found in local classes, with out having to travel to London. We also want to make sure that once you have the basics you can then dance to  the music and follow the changes in the musics energy. This is what the real Cuban Salsa is about and we want to see you dancing with the Rumba, Son, Reggaeton and Orisha. With Body movements from your core and the coolest Cuban connection to the floor. Plus Attitude by the shed full !!
