This week classes are as normal at Acle on Tuesday and Sutton on Thursday. Sharon has a new Salsa line up for you and next week a new Reggaeton line up as well with a few new moves to give you that different look on the dance floor.

Cuban Club ” la Timba “

Coming up this Saturday night 13th March at the Keir Hardie Hall, St Gregory’s Alley, Norwich. Master Afro Cuban percussionist Jose from Guantanamo Cuba will be giving everyone, including complete beginners, a workshop in Afro Cuban drumming. This is your chance to check out the Congas. This is at 8pm, after the workshop we will have Cuban music for you to dance to , line ups, Rueda’s and demos. This is the ideal chance for complete beginners to try the flavour of a real Cuban Club. We will all be at hand to help you out and get you on the dance floor. Plus the drinks are the cheapest in Norwich. If you can make it the night will go on until 1am and the cost is only £6.00 including workshop. There will also be many very sesoned dancers coming for beginners to watch and to ask for a dance.

PS if you are a sesoned dancer there will be plenty of Salsa and Timba to dance to starting at 7.30pm.

If you want encouragement in coming or any info call me 07711 286047                  No need to book just turn up to a warm welcome !

The Club is a large room with a bar on the top floor of the Keir Hardie Hall which we will transform with lights, lasers and flags into a Party room with real attitude.

A Thursday’s Dance Cuban Nigh at Sutton

The Rueda’s get quicker the music hotter and the dancing better. A lovely group of guys and girls that just won’t got home at the end of the night.

The standards are starting to get higher and the couples from the beginners class more than held there own in the next level up. It was great to see the support they got from the more seasoned dancers who have been there and know what the trip up through Cuban salsa is all about.

Cuban Charity Day. All day workshops and party Night

Party with Jose y Guateque 30th Jan 2010

At Sutton Staithe Hotel, Norwich UK. We again had Jose and his band Guateque. This time with a full stage of 9 band members. The sets were full of new tracks which included everything you would expect from a very authentic Cuban band. In the second set Jose, Alex and Casper played their Bata drums to the Orisha.

Sharon pre party Nails and Chips.

All the profits of £ 430 on the night went to a Charity for the children of Haiti. This was made up of proceeds of a Raffle in which included mobile phones several bottles of Whiskey lots of bottles of wine, beer and not a bath cube in sight ! All given by friends and people from our class. Also the balance of ticket price of £8 after the venue was paid for and the fact we had to force the band to be paid, after which they made a donation anyway.  Thank you Jennifer and Zenda who made the prizes into great looking packages and all there hard work in taking the money.

Sharon of Dance Cuban getting the total beginners to use their arms.

Angie won the Rueda Loco with Jose knocking out anyone making a mistake and Richard of Dance Cuban calling.

Stage at Sutton Staithe Hotel waiting for the band. The room looked perfect with over 1200 led Christmas lights on all the walls, dance floors and stage.

With nearly 100 people the venue was full with a bar to hold up those who preferred to stand.

Casper playing the Bata drum. The Bata drum is used to play the mesmerising music for the Orisha. Orisha are the spirits of the Afro Cuban religion Santeria which has it’s roots in the Yoruba tribes of Africa.

Jacqui and Sharon trying to keep up with Jose’s Orisha steps.

The girls from Acle

This is what kids should be doing, however they wanted to stay and heard the second set. They got there own way !!

Tuesday Salsa Class in Acle 26th Jan 2010

Another great night in Acle. Two classes and a equal numbers of guys and Girls in the improvers and only one Lady extra in the Beginners. My ears didn’t stop burning on the way home in the car as Sharon told me for the 20th time how good hers beginners were. At the end of the class she had them doing Rueda’s and they just soaked it up.

Don’t forget Yanet, originally from Cuba, is on “So you think you can dance” BBC 1 on Sat night she is one of the last few remaining girls left. Yanet teachers at most of the Cuban Salsa Weekenders around the country and Europe and has one of the best know names to Cuban dance. Sharon has been to many of her workshops in London, mostly on Ladies Cuban styling but also on Reggaeton and Cuban Rumba. She was most well known for her Couple dancing with Rafael.

Saturday, 30th Jan 2010 is another “Dance Cuban Nights” Party this time with Jose and the band Guateque playing traditional Cuban music. This is at Sutton Staithe Hotel near Stalham, Norwich Uk. Tickets are £ 8 and can be reserved on 07711286047 however there will be tickets on the door. There will also be a Rueda Loco to get you warmed up and Cuban DJ’ed music to dance to.
