Share our Passion for Cuban Salsa

Cuban Salsa is natural, flowing and evocative of the Cuban Culture. The rhythm come from the drums of the African slaves mixed with sounds bought by the Spanish invaders. The step has its roots in Africa with its complete connection to the earth. The body movements comes from the Son and tells the story of the Cuban rumba, which can change between being coy, seductive or outright flirtatious! The movements are always measured, just enough to put the message across, but what a message !! There are many types of salsa but Cuban Salsa is the dance that stays closes to the Afro-Cuban Traditions and contains that magic ingredient that you fall in love with.

Advanced Salsa

To understand what it takes to dance Cuban Salsa at an advanced level means knowing the roots and movements of most if not all of Cuba's dances. This most certanly includes the Afro-Cuban dances of the Orishas as well.

The reason for this is that Cuban Salsa is a mix and each of dances gives its own influence and flavour to the final look of the dance.

If you have had any connection to Cuban Salsa you will know that the word flavour comes up as about as regular as a No 36 bus. This flavour is not something that happens because you can dance perfect moves in perfect time. It happens because you and your partners read and interact with the music and each other. Then follow the changes in the musics energy.
