Rumba in the Streets of Havana

Life is a beach in Cuba
The Orisha are the spirits from the Afro
Cuban religion Santeria. Each Orisha has power over certain aspects of nature
and hence peoples lives. The interaction even between the Orisha, like life, can
be interesting and complicated. The roots go back thousands of years but the
religion moves with time and is
widely followed especially in Cuba where shrines
to the the Orishas can be found in many households.
The strong and individual dances and music of the different Orisha can be used in Cuban salsa to give the movements needed to make it look flowing and individual.

Reggaeton
is danced in all the Cuban
Clubs and is the new wave of dance in the Latin Countries along side Salsa .
Like the dances of the Orishas the movements of Reggaeton can be used in
Cuban salsa to
give that extra ingredient. The key to success in
using it in Cuban salsa is picking up on the changes in flavour of the
music or certain tracks which are saying to you this is Rumba, this is
Reggaeton this is Son etc.
Cuban Salsa
Is natural, flowing and evocative of the Cuban Culture.
